When I started to plan our wedding I thought I knew exactly what I wanted. Well, I didn't.
Sometime in the middle of summer I realized I have no idea how I actually want our wedding day to look like. So I just kind of went with it and trusted my instincts, tried not to complicate, and simplify the preparations as much as possible. For once in my life I went with the flow instead of swimming upstream, and then there was magic.
Our wedding day was truly the wedding of my dreams. It was everything I ever wished for, it was so much more than I could possibly imagine. It really was magic. The light, the smiles, the love. I felt purified by the presence of my family and friends, and filled with serenity and sunlight by saying 'yes' to my husband.
My husband. I admire and respect you, always have and always will. Your warmth brings me peace, your smile comfort, and your arms safety. I will love you, always and forever, I will treasure your heart as I do my own, I will be your light even in the darkest of places. I am so grateful to be able to wake up with you, and fall asleep in your arms. We really are soulmates, there is nothing I believe more than that.
In the morning I woke up in my old bed, in my old room at my mom's place. Žiga was at our house, getting ready there.
At 7 the doorbell rang for the first time. It was the filmer, then the florist, then the photographers, hairdressers, my maid of honor. The morning turned into a huge party - having coffee & croissants, dancing and singing around the house we were sitting in the car on our way to the wedding in no time! That's when I realized. I'M GETTING MARRIED TODAY! T O D A Y! Like, right now! The feeling was indescribable, overwhelming.
11:00, walking down the isle with my grandfather, trying not to cry (tears of happiness!). Breathing in the moment, living inside it - forever. I cannot talk about the ceremony because there are no words do describe how it felt. It was sunlight. We said yes.
After the ceremony we had some food, took thousands of photos, and just really enjoyed the time we were spending together. Then, we had our first dance, my mom did some fortune telling (she has a gypsy habit of doing that, I feel it's half for fun, but the other half is real as you and I are), and we all had a great time. I am so lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful souls, and even more, to call them family. I am grateful to and for every single one of them, and cherish them deeply in my heart. There was so much love that day. Everywhere.
Ok ok, now let me show you some photos! I know you've all been waiting for this :D And so you have another thing to look forward to: there's a video coming soon!!
A while ago Žiga and I had our ‘test wedding photoshoot’! Žan and Filip made such amazing photos, and we’re so happy they’re here for our wedding. We are also thinking about a video, but haven’t decided quite yet. Anyhow – we’re thrilled with the location of the shoot, and of course the outcome. But as you may have noticed, I’m showing you only three photos. That’s because there’s a VLOG coming up to my YouTube channel tomorrow! Marko was kind enough to join us and film the whole thing. Big thanks!
Let me know what you think of the photos in the comments!
Talk soon (tomorrow!!),
In the beginning of August Žiga and I went suit shopping! Since I already (almost, I'm picking it up today!!) have my wedding dress, it was Žiga’s turn. I was so happy he found everything in one place! He decided to go with Boss, and oh what a great decision that turned out to be! The only thing missing is a bowtie, but I’m sure he’ll find that without a problem. Now the only thing left is my reception dress, and my maid of honor's dress.
Also, a huge change happened regarding the cake (these things are so unpredictable hahah), and I’ll tell you more soon in a vlog.
Talk soon,
Good evening guys!
How are things with the lunar eclipse going on? I have to say, I definitely feel strange with all that energy buzzing around - I can't wait to watch the eclipse at 22: 21! Are you going to stargaze too?
Anyway, today I met with Eva, my maid of honor, and we went on a fabric hunt for our dresses. As the maid of honor she needs the perfect dress, wouldn't you say so? And of course I won't be dancing about the whole day in my wedding dress - I need a reception dress! To cut the crap: WE FOUND THE PERFECT FABRIC! Our dresses will be made out of the same fabric, just different cuts and colors. We decided to go with neutrals; I chose a pink-ish grey, and Eva a gorgeous light peach. Now it's time to meet the designer! So excited, I can't wait to tell you more ♡
Today I need your help. We’re putting together a wedding playlist, and since we don’t want the songs to repeat themselves throughout the day we need a very long list! :D Here’s what’s on it so far:
Rabiva tvojo pomoč! Z Žigo sestavljava poročni playlist in, ker ne želiva, da se pesmi ponavljajo mora biti seznam zelo zelo dolg :D Tole sva sestavila zaenkrat:
To je zaenkrat vse, kar je na najini 'playlisti'. Če imaš še kakšno idejo kaj bi lahko dodala jo prosim napiši v komentar, bova zelo vesela!
Talk soon, se tipkamo!
So now we’re getting closer and closer to THE day, and we’re organizing everything (‘smoothly’). We’ve decided on the taste of the cake, and since the chef (I’ll tell you more about who he is in the upcoming posts) is developing the recipe for our cake, we’re deciding about the aesthetic preferences. Probably the cake flower decorations will be made by our florist, but everything else is up to the chef!
Here’s what we’re looking at, still not sure about the color of the flowers tho.. Let me know what you think!
In the previous post I said I'm about to meet with a florist. WELL I HAVE! She is really amazing, and I can't wait to tell you more. I also met with a friend who will take care about the catering. So excited that's sorted out! We're decided to go with a buffet instead of served food, because of the number of the guests. It'll be a really small wedding, just family and closest friends, and we know they all prefer to choose their food instead of served fancy creations (we're all simple like that!). Now there's only the cake left! But I think we're heading in the right direction there, too (:
That's it with the recent updates, and for now here's some flowers inspiration - I'm not quite sure yet if I want to go with the more red-ish colors or just the pastels.. Let me know which combo you prefer!
There's so much news about the wedding again! Today I am meeting an amazing florist, I LOVE LOVE LOVE her work and I know I can trust her completely. I know the flower decorations are safe in her hands, and that she will create an amazing atmosphere! I just love working with people who love their jobs. I am also meeting the catering guy later, and I will tell you all about that in the upcoming posts. But now let's dive right in to the topic of this post:
HOW TO PLAN YOUR WEDDING
If you decided not to hire a wedding planner and do the whole thing yourself, here are a few tips how I'm getting through all the preparations. First, let me just say I have no idea what I'm doing, but it seems to be working. I don't know how planning a wedding should look like, but as usual, I created my own path and tried to figure it all out. And I think I did a pretty awesome job! If I could bring this together anyone can. This is the simple bride wedding planning guide.
STEP 1: MAKE A TO-DO LIST
I made some research about the wedding protocols, and regarding everything else it's just our wishes. Try to keep it simple, but make sure to put everything on it - you don't want to realize you missed something last minute :D
Here's what's on mine:
STEP 2: WHAT THE HELL DO I DO NOW
First, don't get scared of the to-do list. I started planning our wedding only 5 months prior to it, and I'm in no rush. You have plenty of time, don't worry. The thing I (we) did first, is make the guest list. That helped with choosing the location, and consequently with the invitations, presents, decorations, etc. So I would definitely advise you to start with that, and take it easy from there on.
STEP 3: THE DRESS
In my opinion, the dress is one of the most important things at a wedding. Yes, he is going to be wearing a nice suit, but everyone will be looking at you. Therefore, I think it's best (and cheapest) if you have your dress made instead of buying (borrowing??) it at a wedding salon. And it's definitely beautiful to have it hanged in your closet forever (maybe even for future generations to wear). My wedding dress is being made by the same designer who made my mom's second wedding dress, but my dress is inspired by her first one. CAN'T WAIT TO TELL (SHOW) YOU MORE!
STEP 4: SLOWLY CHECK STUFF OFF THE LIST
As I said, you're in no rush. Everything's going to come together perfectly, wether you stress about it or not. Of course not everything will go as planned, but hey - that's the beauty of life. Just enjoy the planning and look forward to your wedding day! It's a celebration, not something to stress about.
And that's it! Planning your wedding in four simple steps, making the most out of every moment and just having a good time. I'll be back soon with more wedding updates, but for now I'm sending you tons of good vibes!
I HAVE FINALLY FOUND THEM! In a wedding boutique in Trieste, Italy, the shoes that will walk me to the altar were looking right at me from the third shelf. After four hours of searching (I literally looked in every shop in Trieste) it felt so good to finally find THE shoes. Especially after countless attempts of buying them in Slovenia! I have to admit, I'm not one for shopping sprees. Not anymore, at least - when I was younger I was all about buying new clothes & spending hours at shops. But not anymore haha :D Especially this year, with my new year's resolution (except for the wedding stuff, of course).
Anyway, I'm super happy I found the right shoes for the wedding, but I won't show them to you yet (I don't want Žiga to see hihihi), so here are some photos from the beautiful Italian city.
I can't believe I'm adding a Wedding section to my blog! In three months I will be Mrs. Stanič Dornik, how insane is that!? I'm beyond happy. But there are so many decisions to make in the upcoming months! Today I decided to share the inspiration for my dress. As I told you in the vlog I posted earlier today, my dress is being designed and made by a slovenian designer (so stoked about that, I can't wait for the first fitting!). In the end I decided to go with a completely different cut than I imagined in the first place, but I think I made the right choice :D Actually it's quite a bold call, but on the other hand the dress could hardly be simpler. Fingers crossed! Sorry I can't tell you more, soon - I promise!
Later this week I'm going shoe shopping. I have NO idea how that's going to go, since I have a very small shoe size, and no idea what I want the shoes to look like. Well, I know they will be white, I guess that's a good start :D I'll keep you posted!
