SAME-SEX MARRIAGE: "This will be a step towards a truly patient and inclusive society with which Slovenia enters the twenty-first century." -Matej Tasner Vatovec
Today i'm sharing some very positive and important news with you.
Slovenia finally allows same-sex unions. A couple of days ago the Committee on Labour, Family, Social policy and Disability of the National Assembly passed the bill 11 votes to 2 in its second reading. Parliament approved the bill on 3 March by a vote of 51 to 28.

I'm really happy this finally happened. My personal opinion is, that no matter your sex you should be able to spend your life with the one you love. Unfortunately many people are strongly opposing this law, especially because they think gay couples shouldn't have the right to adopt children. I think thats complete nonsense; it doesn't matter if the baby has two moms or dads, if they treat him well and love them unconditionally it's ok with me. But the narrow minded population of Slovenia seem to think otherwise; that a child should live in a "normal" family, meaning being raised by an opposite-sex couple and that's what really bothers me.
Of course not all of the people here are "from the dark ages". More and more open minded and positive people are popping up on the streets and that makes me really happy!
I hope we manage to share our positivity with other people who maybe haven't found it yet and I hope they accept it with their arms wide open. It would really be a great step forward for our country and people.
Anyway, that's my opinion. I hope that you mostly agree with me, but if you don't that's of course ok too!
Here's the link to an article I found on this topic by Marja Novak. It's a short text where she explains a bit more about this new law of ours.
