I am not one of those who say that looks do not matter. People love to look great and there is nothing wrong about that-it is lovely to dress up and it can feel amazing to put on makeup every once in a while. Of course, if it all stems from a place self-care and not a place of self-deprecation. In this aspect, welcome to my self-care fashion and beauty blog!
Hey shoe lovers!
As our dear Marilyn said, if you're comfortable in your shoes you can achieve almost anything. We could almost say that our footwear defines us and that shoes are an extension and expression of ourselves.
We all love a comfy pair of stilettos, I'm sure about that! But on our "down days" we often don't feel like wearing high heels and on those days a pair of light sneakers is the perfect comfort. Many studies have shown, that women who wear high heels are more likely to get noticed; their attitude and walking gets more confident and attractive which mainly results in many positive reactions from people who've never met you before.
But as you could expect, studies have also shown, that women are being way more alert on the symbolic implications of shoes than men, who mostly don't really care what shoes they're wearing. Of course there are (let us all be grateful for that) more and more men who know that image is very important and that there are more paths to success available if you look and feel attractive.
If we travel back in time, we discover that shoes really can tell us a lot about one's identity. For example petite bourgeoisie and beggars wore cheap, non-covering, uncomfortable ugly shoes while the elite always wore beautiful and rich shoes. Today that hasn't really changed a lot, only that everyone can afford warm and at least a bit comfy shoes but you still know the difference when someone walks by you in the street wearing some cheap boutique shoes or they're rocking Stuart Weitzman or Christian Louboutin. But nevertheless I need to say, "cheap" shoes can look just as good or even better if you feel good wearing them.
Personally, I don't spend much on shoes. I own a pair of Weitzmans, a couple of UGG boots and my fav Vivienne Westwood Melissa model, but all my sneakers, stilettos and other casual shoes have been bought on sales in small downtown boutiques or maybe some of them in H&M stores.
I can't forget to mention running/training shoes. Since healthy is the lifestyle of the century I'm sure all of us own at least one pair of sporty shoes. I think it's great that not even does the media inspire us to buy shoes, they inspire us to live an active and healthy life and since I'm a health nut myself I would love to recommend you my favorite NIKE AIR MAX sneakers. They go everywhere with me, I don't only use them for sport. I am also a keen adventurer and traveler so I must tell you they are more than perfect for discovering a new city.
Of course, in my opinion, every woman should own a pair of stilettos, platform heels, sandals, sneakers and flip flops. The right shoes can make jeans and a white shirt look like a million dollars, always keep that in mind!
