Hello my lovelies!
How are your holidays going so far? I’m having such an amazing time hanging out with my family and friends, working a little bit, and making plans and resolutions for 2018. Speaking of – have you written down yours yet? This year I decided to make only one resolution, to set only one goal; and that is to become a more mindful human being.
In 2018 I will not buy a single piece of clothing, accessories, or shoes.
I feel like I don’t need the approval of fashion to fit in anymore. I don’t need to wear the coolest sweater, nor the prettiest pair of jeans. I don’t need to have a designer bag or the shoes that just popped up in my favorite online shop. I DON’T NEED IT. What I do need is to become more mindful and aware of my surroundings. I want to fully acknowledge what happens when we’re on a shopping spree, thinking only about what we think we want, what we think we need, what we think will make us happy. The truth is none of the material things will ever make us happy, because somewhere deep inside, on some subconscious level, we all know capitalism is destroying us. All we hear these days is MORE, BETTER, PRETTIER. No wonder we’re losing our minds. No wonder we’ve become shallow beings without content. No wonder we’re all just competing with each other, trying desperately to be better than our so-called ‘friends’.
IT’S TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE.
It is time to learn about love. It is time to learn about gratitude and acceptance. It is time to learn about who we really are, without all the fuss social media is giving us, the unrealistic standards society is setting for us, without all the more, better, prettier. In 2018 let’s see what’s inside.
Not to mention the catastrophic consequences of capitalism – the pollution of oceans, air, and earth, the thousands of species going extinct, the fact that we are literally drowning in our own shit because we have no place else left to put it.
So this year, I decided not to be part of all that again. Starting so with the one simple thing: not buying anything more than the bare necessities. Since I am new to this some tips & tricks for mindful living are more then welcome! (:
I will share my road to mindfulness along the way, so maybe (hopefully) some of you will join. If I stand alone, I stand for what I believe in, but can change very little in the world. But if we stand together WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD. We can reverse some of the damage done by our ancestors, and heal our planet for the generations yet to come.

These are I think the three basic steps towards a mindful life. I will try my best to stay true to them at any time, and hopefully in one year view my life from a different angle. I aspire to change for the better, learn to listen to my body, respect and love myself, and share that positivity with the rest of the world.
