What are you up to today? I started my morning with a lavish breakfast in bed, and then went to visit my beautiful grandma - it's her 80th birthday today! We had a lovely family brunch birthday party, now I'm about to re-organize my clothes, and later there's a workout waiting for me. I hope you have a nice day, too! But if you just can't seem to get that positive vibe, or just want to make things even better (yes, things can always be better), do take my advice: a proper breakfast makes a great day. This is why I always make time to prepare a meal in the morning.
Usually that's either some cereal with yogurt and fruit, a cup of warm porridge, or an omelette with vegetables and albumin curd. I make sure to stay away from chocolate spreads, store-bought granola (it contains so much sugar and other bad stuff - yes, even if it says "fitness oats" or "low calorie/fat", it's best to make granola at home, it tastes so much better & actually is as healthy as it should be), and fruit yogurt; for my oatmeal I usually add fresh fruit to a cup of plain yogurt, and just let it sit for a while (cherries, strawberries & blueberries work best for me).
So that's my usual, but today was a bit different. I've had some bread with organic peanut butter, bananas, and blueberries, and also a slice with butter and jam. To freshen things up I made a fruit salad (grapefruit, coconut, blueberries, litchi, bananas, mint, lime), some freshly squeezed orange juice, and a bottle of vitamin water (red and white grapefruit, lime, blueberries, litchi, melissa). And finally, coffee. Žiga takes his coffee black, while I could almost say I drink milk with coffee :D
But still, a breakfast isn't perfect if it's not served perfectly. In my opinion, the thing that creates the whole experience is the presentation of a meal; you can bake the best shortbread ever, but if you don't serve it tastefully, it's almost like you're disrespecting the dish. And after all, you should take the time to prepare and decorate your food - there are two sayings I try to be as loyal as possible to: 'you are what you eat' & 'what you eat in private, you wear in public'. Treat yourself with love and respect, you deserve nothing less.
