How is your weekend going so far? Mine is great. I've had so much fun shooting with some girls, I was featured on @inbedwithklara, spent a lot of time outside, had lunch at my mom's place,.. To make it short: I'm enjoying myself. Today I wanted to share a couple of simple tips that make my life better you can easily follow.
1. GO FOR A WALK EVERY DAY
I prefer walking in the woods, or go on a hike, but a stroll through the city works just as well. In that time turn off your phone, and take that hour or two just to get in touch with yourself. It's so easy to get distracted with
all that social media fuss these days, and trust me, your body needs some 'me time'. Walking improves your posture and clears the mind. Spending time outside also helps our body release serotonin and dopamine, the hormones of happiness and love, so fresh air is basically an anti depressant (so is chocolate, by the way)!
2. DON'T RESTRICT YOUR FOOD INTAKE
Food is very important for your well being. It is fuel for your body, and pampering for your soul. It's ok to eat chocolate every day, it's ok to spread some extra butter on your morning toast, and it's ok to have midnight snacks. But always make sure to have a balanced diet, for your body to work properly it needs vitamins, minerals, sugar, carbs, protein, fat, and so on. So don't restrict your food intake in any way - listen to your body, it will let you know what and how much of it it needs.
3. PAY ATTENTION TO THE LITTLE THINGS
The little things aren't so little after all. It's the little things that make a big picture. Pay attention to the sound of boiling water when you make coffee in the morning, to how your bicycle makes a funny noise, to what the birds are chatting about on your way to work. Pay attention to how the paper in your office feels like when you refill the printer, and how cold the pen is when you first hold it to sign the letter. Be aware of your surroundings, and most importantly - be aware of your body. Your breathing, the pace of your heartbeat, the warmth of your skin. Embrace the little things, they make life beautiful.
Yesterday my boyfriend and I went for a walk, and to pick some chestnuts. It was beautiful, how the sun made it's way through the tree tops towards the ground, warming it up and filling the space. The fresh air and the calm of the woods really do make life better. So get your butt off that couch and enjoy life!
