This column carries information related to what it takes to build a comfortable and safe home. It also includes general tips on creating a positive environment everywhere you go. It emphasizes the aspects which help us grow and makes us conscious of those which smother our progress and deflect our energy. Our direct surroundings reflect who we are and who we are is a reflection of all that surrounds us. Being and staying mindful is what helps us move along with ease.
V rubriki 'Okolje in Čuječnost' domujejo članki o tem, kako ustvariti prijeten bivalni prostor in okolje na sploh. Kaj so tiste stvari, ki nas dvigujejo in kaj tiste, ki nas dušijo. Vse, kar nas obdaja je odraz naše notranjosti, in naša notranjost je odraz vsega, kar nas obdaja. Čuječnost nam pomaga ohranjati lahkotnost življenja.
Today I'll be introducing you to my kitchen. For me that's a very important place to feel comfortable in, since food plays such an important role in our well-being. There's so much happiness in a nice kitchen; family gatherings, cooking with your boyfriend, making a cup of coffee for an old friend whom you haven't seen in ages, or just sitting on the kitchen counter, reading the morning papers and snacking on your favorite chocolate.
The first, most important thing is light. Lots of natural light creates a warm, pleasant atmosphere. But in the evening, a soft yellow light is what does the trick for me. Plus, warm light makes food look even more delicious! In the second place, my advice is to keep things minimalistic. Don't put every mug on display, and definitely don't store your food on the counter - that's just ew. You can put a bowl of fruit somewhere, but definitely not a sandwich. My rule number three is cleaning. Always clean up right after a meal - don't let dirty dishes pile up in the sink. Not only it smells terrible, but it also looks gross. Always make sure your kitchen looks spotless, that's great motivation to prepare yummy food!
Ok so here's some of the stuff I love to keep in my kitchen:
And also I'd like to show you this gorgeous light. It's a Slovenian design which belongs to a couple of young architects from the sixties Nives Kalin Vehovar and Franci vehovar. You can read all about it here and here.
It is also available at Kubus Interier, where you can find almost everything I have in my kitchen (yes, it is indeed my favorite interior design shop in Ljubljana).
Hey my darlings!
Weekend's almost here, and I'm already in active chill-mode! Also, I have some great news for you; Kubus Interier is celebrating their 20th anniversary of collaborating with Vitra, so they've decided to treat us with a couple of amazing discounts!
Of course I instantly went completely nuts for the Vitra products they offer, and re-decorated my desk a bit. I got the black Eames plastic chair, a cool elephant mouse-pad, a mini tray for my chocolate & coffee, an awesome mug which keeps watching me (it's a bit creepy, I have to admit), and a lovely tool box. I really love Vitra's minimalistic, yet playful designs - they're just perfect for all creative munchkins like myself!
Not to mention that school starts in a couple of days, and, in my opinion, there's nothing better than a clean, organized workspace to jump-start the year, do you agree? You can shop all the products via the links below the photos, or you can just visit the shop in Ljubljana.
Here's a list of the ongoing discounts.
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.
For all other products or questios please contact Kubus Interier.
I hope you had a good start of the week. This weekend I was enjoying Vienna with my mom, we had such a great time! But still, as beautiful as all the places in the world are, home is the nicest one. We just recently got two Rex Kralj Lounge chairs from Kubus Interier, and I just have to share them with you! The Rex chair is a timeless classic of Slovenian design - first introduced in 1952, and perfected in the year 1956 (in this year also the Lounge and Rocking chair were created). Niko Kralj is without doubt one ob the greatest Slovenian designers, and I'm so happy to be able to sip my morning coffee in one of his creations.
Have a great week!
