It's so good to be back! The past couple of months have been all about renovating. But not only our home, I also refreshed the look of my blog a little bit! Honestly I missed writing blog posts, but I just hadn't had the time to prioritize that. I really wanted to grow my YouTube channel, so I put my blog on hold for a while. BUT. Now my YT channel is up and running, and I have a routine of creating videos, so I can slowly start writing more blog posts again! You can expect new posts once a week, on Thursdays at 20:00.
Today is special to me - this is the first blog post about our renovation, and I'm finally sharing some BEFORE / AFTER pictures!! I was dying to post them, because I just feel we did a really good job renovating and designing our new home (if you want to see more detailed updates you can find them on YouTube at the RENOVATION playlist). We did some of the renovation work ourselves, as much as was possible, but now that we've been assembling the kitchen and other furniture we mostly did it ourselves (HUGE THANKS to our friends for helping out).
We got the kitchen at Ikea, but what I really want to talk about today are the Hay AAS 38 stools we got at Kubus, and also show you some other kitchen items we found there.
The AAS 38 is a real gem. We were looking for the perfect stool for our kitchen island for ages, and finally we found it at Kubus, where we sat down with an architect and talked things through. We are super impressed by the service and level of expertise Kubus offers, and adding the finishing touches to our kitchen was so much easier with their help!
As you may have noticed, in some of the photos you can see our dining table and chairs. We got the table custom made, but the chairs are our 'old' chairs we got for our previous apartment, and are also from Kubus. The Vitra Eames Fiberglass Side chairs are super playful, and the fact that we have 5 different color ways just makes the whole kitchen / dining area a little less 'clean' and dull.
Talking about the KITCHEN / DINING AREA - as you can tell from the before / after photos, we've torn down the wall separating the kitchen from the living room, and now we have one big space (39m2), and that was probably one of, if not THE best call we made throught the renovation. Opening up the living and cooking area brought so much light and warmth to our home, now all we have to do is figure out where to put the Christmas tree!
But let's get back to the kitchen. The kitchen is 460cm long, and the island is 240cmx90cm, and we're already starting to realize that's where the main mess will be going down. The vibe in the kitchen just makes you not want to leave! Especially now that we have these super cool (and comfy AF) stools, and all the super nice 'accessories' we got at Kubus. The bread basket, tray, salt & pepper shakers, and the pitcher are from Stelton, and the Eames bird that has been on our whish list for ages (that was our 'moving in' present to ourselves).
So to sum things up: even an Ikea kitchen can look like a million dollars if you know how to magic it up with some final touches, so you don't have to spend a fortune to have a really good looking kitchen! There are some things worth investing in, and one of these things are definitely CHAIRS. You need to take care of your body, so how and where you sit is super important! And cheap, badly designed chairs can seriously harm your spine, and consequentially your hips, shoulders, and neck. So people. If you're sitting down a lot (which you probably are, lol this lifestyle is killing us), do yourself a favour and sit on a quality chair. At Kubus you can find all kinds of chairs (office, lounge, dining, stools,..) so make sure to pay them a visit at Rimska cesta 23 in Ljubljana, and talk things through.
AND if you're looking for new stools I need to let you know that the ASS 38 is CURRENTLY ON SALE at Kubus, as it is the product of the month! You can get the 20% off so it's a pretty darn good deal!
Anyway guys. Creating this blog post felt so good, and I'm looking forward to next Thursday already! If you have any questions about our kitchen or Kubus just leave them in the comments or drop me a DM on Instagram.
