I’m so excited to finally write this post! It’s been way too long, but the wedding preparations are just so insane right now. Absolutely nothing goes according to plan, but I trust the universe will make it perfect. In the mean time, I’m simply grateful for the people I have in my life, trying to be mindful in my relationships with them, and taking good care of myself and everyone around me.
Last week, Tin and Iza invited us over for brunch. We’ve been trying to meet again for ages, and finally we made it! I think it’s super sad that we don’t see our friends for so long. We (and by ‘we’ I mean all of us, even you) tend to confuse our priorities by putting our etc. job first, but not our social bonds. We cannot do our job properly if we’re in a black mood, and to not feel that way we really need to put our relationships first, everything else comes second. And note that we don’t only establish and nourish relationships with other people, in the first place we need to bond with ourselves. Make sure we enjoy inner harmony as well as a balanced ‘outside’ or social life.
Bottom line, you come first. Everything else can wait.
To establish meaningful relationships (and nourish, maintain and care for them) we need two skills; to give consistently, and receive occasionally. We also need to acknowledge that listening is so much more important than talking. Anyone can say the ‘right words’, or have their own opinion, but not anyone can listen, and that is what we all really need – someone who listens to us, and someone we listen to. We don’t always need to say something, or anything, in fact. We just need to show empathy and kindness, and when that is felt words may find their place, and help heal or grow.
Even though we don’t know Tin and Iza very well (yet) I care for them very much. They are beautiful, creative souls with such an inspiring positive view on life. We met through a friend of mine, Taja - Tin is her brother, while Iza is Tin’s girlfriend. Their family shows what family really means, meaning not only the ‘blood bond’, but also the feeling of belonging, acceptance, and harmony.
So guys let’s get our priorities straight. Let’s figure out what we really want, who we really want to be(come). Make meaningful and mindful choices in life, regarding the outside world as well as what’s going on within us.
Tin is also an excellent chef! When we came over the perfect brunch was served. Poached eggs, salmon, avocado – everything I enjoy so much! Not to mention their home. Once you’re in harmony with yourself everything else around you falls into place. I mean just look at their home!
