Spring is finally here, and we all know what's next. That's right, SPRING CLEANING! We all know how stressful that can be, so I'm here to give you some ideas on how to make it fun. First, make a plan - think about how you want to (re)decorate, make a list about all the things you're willing to finally say goodbye to, and finally, prepare a BIG bag for all the things you completely forgot about. When that's done, you can treat yourself with a new item that will make your house scream "Summer, I am ready for you!". That can either be a piece of furniture (a new chair, for instance), if you like art you could maybe get a little statue for your desk, perhaps even a lovely vase to brighten up the kitchen, or even some cool DIY stuff you can create with your friends or/and family. Basically whatever you like, just make it something that will keep you motivated!
My motivation were these beautiful wooden hexagon boxes I got at Smile Concept Store. I was checking them out at the shop for ages, so now really seemed like the perfect time to finally give them a home. There's a little magnet on every corner, an as it turns out that isn't only a super cool closing design, but also a great hack to stash your paperclips and other desk gadgets! Another thing I love about them is the smell. Every time I open one up I smell nature, and that is just about the best thing you can smell in a big city full of concrete and public transport. The lids are painted white, but the lower part is wooden, which gives them a soft touch despite their raw geometric shape. To conclude, these boxes are the perfect and extremely useful home decoration, and also they are perfect for a present!
You can shop the boxes and the notebook online:
Or just drop by the Smile Concept Store in the city center of Ljubljana!
Enjoy your spring cleaning guys, and send me pictures of all the pretty stuff you got!
This is my first actual post on this section of my blog, so I thought I'd make it about my work space! It seems appropriate, you are after all reading my posts, I might as well show you where they are created!
I am so happy to finally start posting on this section - I was planning on it for quite a while now. So, let's start!
I live near the city center of Ljubljana, Slovenia (as you already know, I currently spend weekdays in my apartment in Gorizia, Italy, where I'm studying), but today it's all about the house where I grew up. Its a cute little one-story twin house with the nicest garden ever (my mom takes care of that, she just loves gardening!), and the neighborhood in general is perfect - calm and pretty well organized, but still you can have a REALLY loud party, and no one will mind.
Ok enough of that now, I'll tell you all about my room / work space now!
1. ORGANIZED & CLEAN
For the beginning, I'd like to say that I love to sit down at a clean, organized desk - I can't work in piles of papers and all other stuff (pretty much everything) you can find there. I am a minimalist, so I avoid too many colors, but still keep it warm and pleasant.
Currently most of my walls are slightly beige, except for the ones on the sleeping area - they're painted navy blue. I like to sleep in, and the dark color helps me loads with that since the sunlight isn't brightening the blue up as much as a white wall, for instance! But I'll show you my bedroom another time, let's focus on my work place now. I've just recently painted my desk white, before it was a wooden Ikea desk, you know that brown/beige "wood" they make all furniture out of.. So I decided I needed a change, and now in a couple of weeks I'll be painting all of my walls white (I can't wait, the summer vibe's really got me hyped for the brightest white of them all!).
My computer is so important to me - I work in graphic design and photography (not to mention, my blog), so you can imagine how much time I spend sitting on that chair you see below :D
Flowers. I LOVE flowers. Our whole house is full of plants, but my desk still gets some fresh tulips or some other nice flowers on a weekly basis. On the left side of my chair I have a really pretty plant, sadly I have no idea what it's called. There is a small avocado tree growing, and some other pink flower I named Martha. But my most loved one is in Gorizia with me, and I call him Hesus. Hesus is a Dracaena Marginata and we have a really good relationship going on. I can't wait to bring him back home to his friends when university's over!
I just got my Happy Lights at Smile Concept Store, and of course I had to share them with you immediately. They really create a happy & cozy ambient, and they really get me in a relaxed mood. They come in many different colors, so you can find the perfect ones to light up your favorite room! I am so happy with them I could invite you over for some tea just so you could be influenced by their magical power too! :D
For me, it's all in the details. A pretty clay pineapple, a wire basket for your pens, some positive inspirational graphics in cute frames. Things like these are the ones who give the room personality - they can create the most beautiful, pleasant vibe, or they can make you really sad and lazy. So pick well! I recommend some items you hold dear, maybe a porcelain vase your grandmother gave you, or just a nice planer, a tiny flower, etc.
I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I did writing this post, I'm really happy to finally write about something more personal, and I'm looking forward to more posts like this!
Please let me know what you think about this new section, you know how much I love to get some feedback!
Have a great Saturday evening everyone!
